Sora Kim’s work is one of recording through a medium that utilizes gaze (photography) to leave behind a visual chronicle of a particular neighborhood in Anyang. The artist will document over the course of eight months, beginning in September 2016, before the public opening of APAP 5, and ending in April 2017 with the publication of the APAP 5 catalogue. During the period, the recordings will be shared regularly through advertisement panels on bus stops, inserted in newspapers, and other public routes or channels. Among the numerous gazes, the recordings not included in the public project will be assembled into a book that will survive APAP 5 in the Anyang Pavilion and in public libraries across the city. The book will sit on the shelf like a history book that does not exist in anyone’s memory or a book of essays by someone of whom no one has heard.
